Lord, You send the rain to bless
us. Your gifts are as numerous as the drops that fall to the earth. You send Your love in downpours, thunderstorms, lightning, in a full array of glory. How
can we deny Your goodness when the gutters are filled to overflowing?
Help us to receive Your
blessings. Give us taste buds to know
the richness of your blessing, minds to comprehend and marvel in your glory,
hearts moved to sing and tell of Your goodness. And though we fail to see and receive this love with
thanksgiving, fill us again and again.
Give us childlike amazement that
we would beg for more. The world should not have been, but in the beginning God
spoke and the downpour of blessing began. Do it again! Do it again! Let the sun
rise again, let the moonbeams shine again. Let the rain clouds pour again. Let
us rejoice in blessed redundancy, in the extravagance with which God gives us extraordinary
miracles. Let us delight in the common and the natural, for we are too
naturalized to see with wonder.
Bless us with eyes to see and love the rain.
Bless us with eyes to see and love the rain.
